Hotel Sly

Traversing system 35 mm flat, double rod

One kilometre of pure black

991 metres of traversing rod, 395 wall brackets, 14,000 gliders. Those are the impressive numbers for a hotel project designed by Hamburg-based architecture agency, Giorgio Gullotta: the “Sly” in the Berlin district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. The 150 rooms in the design-oriented hotel feature materials made of oak and natural stone as well as design classics from Louis Poulsen, Knoll or Carl Hansen. To supplement this harmoniously, the architects selected the purist CODEX system as fittings for the internal sun protection in trendy black – in a double-track version.

The planning and installation work for the over one hundred fittings was completed by the interior designers from Jording Textile Solutions from Bielefeld. In a change from standard procedure, the fittings were not supplied in ready-to-install form. The rods were supplied in standards lengths and were cut to the precise dimensions of the fittings, which were predominantly installed in niches, on site by the experienced interior designers.
