A meandering path
42.3 metres – an impressive length for a curtain rail installation which can be found in the heart of Mannheim. In the showroom at Schreinerfarm, a bespoke furniture manufacturer, interior decorator and interior designer in one, the system runs like a fine line through the space – not quite straight, but with elegant curves connecting the whole area together.
The rail does not have a standard size and instead winds its way through the room like a striking curve, making it a deliberate design element that catches the eye in the showroom and creates an elegant backdrop for the architecture. Every bend and every curve was planned, checked and made to measure – a combination of interior design, technical planning and craftsmanship skill by the interstil bending service team. The system was then produced at the interstil plant with millimetre precision in ten accurately prefabricated sections. The curved segments were then assembled on site with precision connectors, an installation process which required complete excellence in terms of precision and planning.
A 35 mm flat rod was used which is ideal for use as a room divider thanks to its symmetrical design. It fits into the ceiling design harmoniously while also delivering maximum functionality – quiet sliding, high load capacity and seamless transitions in bends. The system was installed using 50 cm standard ceiling brackets which give the rail an elegant, floating look while, of course, guaranteeing complete stability.
